Working In Africa: How To Find a Job
Like finding work in your homeland, finding a job in Africa is very frustrating and very hard. You really have to put some hard work into finding not just the job of your dreams but also any job. There are some things that you may or may not have heard about how to find a job in Africa so here are some important things that you will need to know:
- Non-profit Organizations will Not pay for you to travel across Africa, this if you want to do so will at cost to you. In most instances with Non-profit organizations you will make very little to no money. In some places you may have to start off paying for your own work experience. Working in Africa is a once in a lifetime opportunity and you have to be able to put blood, sweat and tears into working hard just to find that job.
- There are some places in Africa; it may be impossible to get a job that plays unless you already have work experiences there. It is a cruel circle, you have to get a job to get the experience but it will be difficult to get the job for the experience to get a job.
- Not all jobs in Africa are Non Profits and this makes finding a job a bit easier but some companies are hesitant to hire expatriates to work for their company without having any work experience in Africa. Then again these positions do often require technical experience that you may or may not have. Some companies still require education and experience in Africa before they will hire you.
In order for you to get these jobs that are available, you may have to wait until you can get the experience that is often needed. Search for a local organization that is willing to bring you in and train you to do the job they need done. A great way at least for now is to offer your service for free until you can get the experience that you need. You may find that more companies would be open to that.

You can check with the embassy in Africa and find out what the job situation is like and what are the chances that you will get a job.
It may be your dream to work in Africa but to make that happen, it is a good idea to do as much research on non and profit organizations before moving to Africa to see if they can help you get started. You do not want to be without a job or without a means to support yourself in a country that you are not from. You want to have a rewarding experience working but you want a safe experience as well.
